The Inter-Agency Committee (IAC) established to facilitate the implementation of the Interim Communication of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC), held its initial session under the Chairmanship of the Attorney-General Mohan Pieris.
The Committee gave careful consideration to the interim recommendations of the LLRC and decided to request the relevant agencies of the State to take immediate measures to implement the interim recommendations as best as they could and to report to the IAC as to what help (if any), would be necessary to give full meaning to the recommendations.
The IAC noted that several measures have already been taken in the furtherance of the implementation process. The IAC was also of the view that it work in close consultation with the LLRC and seek the Commission’s directions if deemed necessary.
The Committee also decided to ensure that those in the North and East who are homeless, should receive due priority in the allotment of houses under the projects assisted by the Government of India and the World Bank.
