Rizana’s death penalty temporarily suspended [December 07 2010]

Following the request made by President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the death sentence of Rizana Nafeek, a Lankan house maid, has been temporary suspended by the Saudi Arabian King.

This was announced by the Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare Minister Dilan Perera at the parliament a short while ago.

He said according to Sharia law no pardon was given for the death penalty by the Kind can order to suspend the punishment temporarily.
