The government warns the public of a racket raising funds by some groups who claim they raise funds for the welfare of armed forces.
They fund raisers do not have the approval of the Defence Ministry and the Media Center for National Security (MCNS) request the public to complain the Centre about such fund raisers.
“It is illegal for any individual or voluntary organization to collect money saying ‘for the benefit of soldiers’ without the consent of the Defense Ministry”, Director General of the MCNS Lakshman Hulugalle said.
He said legal action would be taken against those who collect funds illegally.
