Two baby jumbos released to wild [December 17 2010]

Two baby elephants at the Elephant Transit Home (ETH) were released to Maduru Oya National Park today.

Five-year-old 'Wasu' and 'Colombo' sheltered at the ETH since 2006 were collared before releasing to the wild.

The two baby elephants in a batch of 10 will be continuously monitored. The rest eight baby elephants will also be released next week.

Sixty six baby elephants at ETH, which was established in 1995 at the Udawalawe National Park, have been released to the wild so far.
