The Traditional Industries and Small Scale Enterprises Development Ministry is to lease land for former investors of the Atchuveli industrial estate as well as new investors.
The industrial estate which was destroyed by the LTTE had over 30 industries in the zone. The Indian government had donated Rs 230 million to re-establish the estate.
According to Ministry Secretary P Sivaganamoorthy out of total land areas of 65 acres, 25 acre land area has been given to four industrial ventures- MAS Holding, Oris Apparels Lanka, Timax and Shore to Shore (Pvt) Ltd.
He said the rest of the land area would be leased to small scale industries. “ It would generate over 3,000 employment opportunities”, he said
