More budget allocation for irrigation projects

<P>The government has decided to increase the budget allocations for the Department of Irrigation. 

<P>Director General of Irrigation, G. G. A. Godaliyadde said that this year they would received Rs. 11 billion from the government.

<P>“Last year we received only Rs. 3.5 billion and this is a major incentive for us,” he said.

<P>He said that this would enable them to speed up the on going major construction projects specially in the Polonnaruwa and Amrara districts,” he said.

<P>He said that one of the biggest mixed development projects, Deduru Ola will be completed this year.
