Nine percent economic growth expects in 2012 [January 06 2011]

Senior Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama said the parliament that Sri Lanka is anticipating nine percent economic growth by the year 2012.

Dr. Amunugama speaking during the debate on the Recovery of Loans by Banks (special provisions) (Amendment) Bill told the House Sri Lanka could able to achieve 8 percent economic growth during the last year and the Government was able to successfully reach all its targets during the year 2010.

Sri Lanka would be able to reach double digit economic growth within the next few years due to the healthy economic environment created in the country, he said.

Dr. Amunugama said the intention of the Government is to become 30th place in the doing Business Index with the next 5 years. At present we are in 130th place in the business index and we would be able to reach to 100 place by next year.
