President visits flood hit areas [January 12 2011]

President Mahinda Rajapaksa is now visiting flood affected areas in the North Central and Central provinces where over 937,502 have been affected and 16 died due to prevailing cyclonic weather conditions.

According to President’s Secretariat sources, the President will also visit Batticoloa, which is the worst affected and also to Ampara.

The Disaster management Centre said that 180,151 people are living in 453 displaced centres set up in all affected districts.

They are being given cooked meals with the assistance of respective District and Divisional secretaries.
