Prince Charles condoles [January 16 2011]

Prince Charles of Britain, in a message to President Mahinda Rajapaksa, has expressed his concern over the tragic loss of life and property in the prevailing floods in Sri Lanka.

Prince of Wales – Prince Charles has said that he and his wife have been watching, with mounting concern, the terrible effects of the flooding which has been afflicting so much of Sri Lanka. The message was forwarded today by the Acting British High Commissioner Mark Gooding.

Given below the full text of the message of the Prince of Wales Prince Charles to Sri Lanka’s President Mahinda Rajapaksa "My wife and I have been watching, with mounting concern, the terrible effects of the flooding which has been afflicting so much of Sri Lanka.

Our hearts go out to the families of those who have so tragically lost their lives and to all those who have lost their property and, crucially, their next harvest.

On behalf of us both, I wanted you to know how much you and the people of Sri Lanka are in our thoughts and prayers at this most difficult of times and to send you every encouragement and countless good wishes as you begin the task of rebuilding shattered communities.
