Ministry seeks coal from Indonesia

<P>Ministry of Power and Energy is to explore the possibilities of
importing quality coal from Indonesia.

<P>Minister Patali Ranawaka has visited Indonesia to discuss with the
Indonesian government to enter a long-term agreement to purchase high
quality Indonesian coal.

<P>He is to meet his counterpart Darwin Zeheedy Saleh and to visit
hi-tech coal power
stations in Indonesia.

<P>Sri Lanka is to generate energy from alternative energy sources to
bring down the unit cost of electricity, which is high due to power
generation based on fuel.
