Exercise book for flood hit children [January 19 2011]

The Sri Lanka Red Cross Society (SLRCS) has donated over 20, 000 exercise books among school children in flood hit areas in the East.

“In the last three days we have helped clean 43 schools in the East by spraying germicides. We are also distributing sanitary packs, specially targeting women and children. Already 1500 packs have been given and another 1,500 packs are to distribute among them tomorrow, the Director General of the SLRCS, Tissa Abeywickrama.

SLRCS, which distributed dry rations worth Rs. six million among displaced people in 15 districts, is to help 2,000 families to rebuild their houses destroyed due to floods.
