SL to protest against Maha Bodhi attack

<P>Sri Lanka is to lodge a strong protest with the Tamil Nadu Government
against the mob attack on Maha Bodhi Vihara  in Chennai, India, today.

<P>The Sri Lankan High Commissioner to India, Prasad Kariyawasam is now
on his way to Chennai to discuss with Tamil Nadu officials.

<P>A high ranking official told the Observer that Kariyawasam will visit
the injured monks and also discuss with the Tamil Nadu authorities to
ensure safety of Sri Lankans visiting Tamil Nadu.

<P>A gang comprising ten persons carrying clubs had attacked the Buddhist
monks in the Maha Bodhi Temple in Chennai and ransacked the Temple
office.
