Lankan religious dignitaries condemn attack on Maha Bodhi temple [January 28 2011]

Religious dignitaries - Buddhist, Christian, Hindu and Muslim – in Sri Lanka have condemned the attack on the Sri Maha Bodhi Buddhist Temple in Chennai by an armed group.

Four Buddhist monks were injured four Buddhist monks.

“We strongly condemn the attack on the Buddhist temple that injured the monks”, Venerable Galagama Dhammaransi Thero, of the Inter-Religious Alliance for National Unity said.

At a press conference held in Colombo with the participation of over 17 religious dignitaries, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith, Catholic archbishop of Colombo requested people to stay calm and pray for the recovery of injured monks.
