Indian trains arrive [February 12 2011]

Sri Lanka Railways said the first consignment of the Indian train power sets have arrived here as part of an effort by New Delhi to help boost infrastructure in the country after the end of the conflict.

Vijeya Samarasinghe, the director planning of railways said that two of the twenty power sets have six compartments each. They consist of first class and economy class compartments.

Since the end to the ethnic war with LTTE, India has extended assistance to develop Sri Lanka''s southern and northern raiwlay lines.
