Fishermen warned to stay within 200 nautical miles

<p>Sri Lankan fishermen have been warned by the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources to stay within 200 nautical mile Sri Lankan maritime boundary line for fishing.

<p>This warning comes after five Sri Lankan fishermen were abducted by the Somali pirates on February 11.

<p>Assistant Director of the Fisheries Department, Lal De Silva said all Sri Lankan fishermen warned about the threat faced by them when crossing international waters.

<p>He said the Ministry was negotiating with the authorities to five fishermen and also two other Sri Lankan fishermen, who have been in Somali custody since last year.
