Opposition active overseas, not here - MR

<P>Sri Lanka’s Opposition is only operative abroad, instead of doing so at home, President Rajapaksa told media heads at Temple Trees today.

<P>“Our Opposition is only good in their operations abroad, not here. Instead of indulging in democratic politics as a constructive Opposition, they do nothing locally but are only active abroad, tarnishing Sri Lanka’s image,” the President said.

<P>He alleged that the Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe is going round the world, tarnishing Sri Lanka’s image and that the UNP leader painted a gloomy picture to the European Union to stop GSP plus concession to Sri Lanka. “He must understand that he is not attacking me personally but the people of Sri Lanka by making baseless allegations,” he said.
