PB sees positive economic growth, less debts [February 22 2011]

Sri Lanka’s economic progress has been impressive and all accepted indicators show positive growth, Secretary to the Ministry Dr. P.B. Jayasundara said today.

Speaking during a meeting with the media heads at the Temple Trees today, Dr. Jayasundara said there is “no actual truth” in the allegations on Sri Lanka’s debuts. “The accepted economic indicators show positive signs. One could say our debts have comparatively increased. But at the same time, our income too has gone up considerably,” he said.

The Treasury Secretary said that Sri Lanka’s debit ratio, which was high as much as 104% in 2002-2004, has no gone down to double digits. “We expect that to go down further to by 78 to 80% by next year,” Dr. Jayasundara said.
