Sri Lanka's first solar energy Garden (plants) will be opened in April in Baruthakanda, Hambantota and will add 500 KV of energy to the national grid.

The park would be built by Koreans and the Japanese and when completed it would add 1.2 megawatts to the national grid. The total investment for this project by both Korea and Japan is US $ 13.4 million with the Japanese government investing 8.9 Million.

This would be the first time that solar energy is being added directly to the national grid in a mass scale.
