Sanga cautions Lankan team as Malinga returns [February 28 2011]

Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara, on the eve of their third World Cup qualifying round game against Kenya tomorrow, cautioned his team to be fully focused on the game as they look to get their World Cup campaign back on track ahead of their big game against the reigning champions Australia on Saturday. "We have Kenya next, followed by Australia, so we will look back on the defeat and learn from our mistakes which are very important. There are few things we can learn". Sangakkara stated that building partnerships is a vital factor which they could not perform well in the previous game. "Bowling a better line and length is important and when we bat partnerships are important and we shouldn't' panic.

The Sri Lankan captain also said that the team need to show a great amount of improvement in all departments of the game as the tournament progresses. "We are just going to keep preparing and keep playing as best we know how. There is a long way to go in this tournament so we just have to keep improving and make sure that we perform as well as we can. The Sri Lankan team will be boosted with the return of speed star Lasith Malinga who was rested for the opening two World Cup games against Canada and Pakistan respectively.
