Molested children abused by known people

<p>Nearly 92 percent of molested children have suffered abuse by someone  known to them, Chairperson of the National Child Protection Authority Anoma Dissanayaka said.

<p>“Parents must be extremely vigilant of their children who are left under the care neighbours, members of the extended family and friends.

<p>A child must be taught from a very young age not to protest elders touching inappropriate parts of their body and alert their parents any such occurrence” she said.

<p>She urged the parents to constantly be aware of their child’s daily routine and do some random checks to ensure they were mingling with people that they aware of.

<p>“ Make your child comfortable to discuss any confusing change of behaviour with you freely” she said.
