Hawk Eye chief at ICC World Cup [March 06 2011]

Mumbai – Stephen Carter, the Managing Director of the much-debated Hawk-Eye technology, now being used for the ongoing World Cup, will be in India tomorrow.

"I am arriving in India tomorrow and will be present during the India-Ireland match in Bangalore", he said from Colombo, where he also went to witness another important match between Sri Lanka and Australia on Saturday.

Carter didn't wish to confirm whether he is scheduled to discuss whether his technology has any faults. On Friday, the Umpires’ Decision Review System (UDRS) came in for sharp focus for the second time (New Zealand vs. Zimbabwe) in six days at the World Cup. And on both instances the on-field umpire stuck to his original decision though the point of impact of the ball on the pad was more than 2.5 metres from the stumps on both the occasions.

""I can't reveal my plan of my visit and discuss it in public", he said. However, the ICC official, Haroon Lorgat (for media conference) and other BCCI key officials are set to remain present in Bangalore and issue is bound to be discussed at length, it is learnt here. It is a known fact that the BCCI have been opposing the UDRS and were not happy when the presentation was made in Chennai, a few weeks ago.
