CEB earns Rs. 13 m from power pirates

<p>The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has generated revenue in the excess of Rs. 13 million from the Puttalam district recently by way of fining people who have tapped electricity illegally.

<p>The Flying squad of the Ceylon electricity Board had identified 175  culprits who have tampered the electrical meters and others who have tapped electricity from the distribution wires.

<p>The court fines in this regard was Rs. 3 million while a further Rs. 10 million was collected as penalties from the culprits.
