The results of the forthcoming local government election would be issued to the political parties and the independent candidates at the counting centers itself. The preferential votes would also be announced in the same way, the Election Commissioner announced.
A copy of the result sheet will be displayed at the counting center. Each counting center has a number of counting points in which around 12,000 votes are counted. Political parties and independent groups conclude their campaigning for the local government elections by midnight according to the guidelines issued by Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake.
