Colombo water pipe development delayed

<p>Nearly 650km of underground water pipes of Colombo city need to be re-laid but the commencing of the development work is delayed due to budgetary constraints, Secretary of the Ministry of Water Supply & Drainage A. Abeygunasekara said.

<p>"Most of these pipes were laid when the country was under the British rule and it is imperative they are re-laid to ensure clean water supply in the city" he said.
