Sri Lanka to play New Zealand in Mumbai [March 17 2011]

Former champions Sri Lanka will be hoping to consolidate their position when they take on New Zealand in their ICC 2011 Cricket World Cup final Group ‘A’ fixture at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Friday.

The Lankans are currently placed fourth in the points table with seven

points while New Zealand are placed second with a tally of eight points. The match will certainly be of great importance for both teams as they look to build up their confidence ahead of the vital knockout stage. This will be a great chance for Sri Lanka to register their fourth win in the 14 nation tournament as the Kiwis are hit by severe injuries to some of their key players.

Sri Lanka are also hoping to make a couple of changes for this game having had a few training sessions at this revamped Wankhede Stadium. This will be the second match at the renovated Wankhede stadium, which will host the final on April 2.
