Condolence Book for the public at the Japanese Embassy [March 19 2011]

The Japanese Embassy will open a Condolence Book for the public today (Friday) to convey their condolences to the disaster-hit people in Japan.

The Embassy statement said : In the aftermath of the most devastating natural disasters, namely, the Tohoku-Pacific Ocean Earthquake, which occurred in Japan on Friday 11th March 2011, resulting in tremendous loss of life, destruction of property and affecting thousands of Japanese and other nationals, the Embassy of Japan in Colombo will open a condolence book for the public.

The condolence book will be open at the Embassy of Japan at No. 20, Gregory’s Road, Colombo 7, on (Friday) March 18, and from (Monday) 21st to (Wednesday) 23rd March 2011, from 09:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1.30 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. each day.

The Embassy sincerely appreciates the goodwill of the public during this calamity but notes that it is unable to accept donations in terms of goods towards the cause. Financial donations towards the earthquake and tsunami affected people in Japan can be channeled through the Sri Lankan Red Cross Society or the Japan Red Cross Society to the bank accounts in the attachment.
