MoU with Ningbo Port soon [March 19 2011]

Sri Lanka is to sign a memorandum of understanding with the one of the busiest ports in world, Ningbo of China.

Minister of Ports Rohitha Abeygunawardae said that one of the priorities of this agreement would be to obtain technological know how to Sri Lanka and also to share the success of the Chinese Prot.

He said that in addition the Ningbo Port would help to secure additional ‘businesses’ to Sri Lanka . “The Ningbo Port some times can not meet the demand and they would divert some of the ships to both Colombo and Hambantota for logistics support,” the minister said.

This would bring in additional revenue to the country.
