Today is the 69th birth anniversary of former Minister and ex-Sri Lanka Cricket Presient Gamini Dissanayake. A ceremony organized to mark the 69th birth anniversary of the late Minister and cricket promoter was held at Ananda Coomaraswamy Mawatha in Colombo today before a distinguish gathering.
Floral tributes were offered to the Gamini Dissanayake statue by family members including his wife, Vajira Srimathi Dissanayake and son, Minister Navin Dissanayake. UNP Deputy Leader Karu Jayasuriya was also present at the event. The late Dissanayake was heading Sri Lanka’s national governing body for cricket when Sri Lanka gained Test status in 1981 and the former minister played a key role in accelerated Mahaweli development.
