Kerawalapitiya plant continues to feed National Grid [March 28 2011]

The Ceylon Electricity Board dismissed today’s print media reports on the closure of the operations Kerawalapitiya Power Plant due to a dispute with oil supply with the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation.

Chairman of the CEB Vidya Amarapala said that power generation activities at the Kerawalapitiya Power Plant at present are continuing as usual and that there had been no disruption at present whatsoever.

However, he admitted that the CEB had to come to a settlement with the CPC to obtain heavy fuel to generate power on credit. The CEB has paid a sum of Rs.460 million of their outstanding credit.
