More Lankan women enter in to manufacturing industry -UNIDO

<P>Sri Lanka and Vietnam, there are more women in the manufacturing industry than men, according to the report of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO).

<P>In the year 2008, women comprised 57.7 per cent of the total workforce in the Sri Lankan industry whereas in Vietnam it was 58.4 per cent share.

<P>The apparel industry was the biggest employer of women in these countries. In Sri Lanka for instance over 77 per cent of the workforce employed in apparel sector comprised women in 2008. In Vietnam it was 82.2 per cent.
