Over 500,000 estate employees to get pensions

<p>For the first time in Sri Lanka over 500, 000 employees in the estate sector would get pensions.

<p>Chairman, Sri Lanka Security Board, Nimal Samarasinghe said that under the Mahinda Chinthana’ it was spelled out to provide a pension to all citizens of Sri Lanka.

<p>He said that this scheme would not only be for estate laborers but would bring benefits for the higher level employees in the estate sector.

<p>The scheme is being implements with the assistance the Ministry of Finance and is being coordinated by the Minister Arumugam Thandaman. (SS)
