Govt supports civil societies to improve water and sanitation facilities [April 02 2011]

The government has decided to assist the civil society organisations working to address the sanitation crisis in South Asia.

Minister for Water Supply and Drainage Dinesh Gunawardena speaking at the civil society meeting in connection with the fourth South Asian Conference on Sanitation in Sri Lanka (SACOSAN IV) to be held from 4 to 7 April stressed the importance of grassroots participation for successful and sustainable projects, “If we really want to serve our people at a reduced cost, working in partnership with the community is a must. I have personally seen this approach prove successful in Sri Lanka.”
