President felicitate Sri Lanka cricketers [April 04 2011]

President Mahinda Rajapaksa held a felicitation ceremony to the Sri Lanka cricket team at Temple Trees this evening. Welcoming the Sri Lanka cricketers, who emerged runners up to India at the recent ICC World Cup tournament, Secretary to the resident Lalith Weeratunga said Kumar Sangakkara and his boys have brought honour to the country by finishing second in the world.

“We are proud of your achievements. It is no easy task to become runner up and even though we lost to India in the final, our team have brought honour and fame to Sri Lanka,” the Secretary to the President said.

Sri Lanka cricket team and their wives, along with the officials from Sri Lanka Cricket, graced the occasion. Minister of Sports Mahindananda Aluthgamage was also present along with Ministers Keheliya Rambukwella, Bandula Gunawardene, Susil Premajayanth and Chief Ministers Alavi Maulana and Prasanna Ranatunga.
