Dilshan climbs to No.3 spot in ICC rankings [April 04 2011]

Sri Lanka’s dashing opener Tillekaratne Dilshan who enjoyed a successful 2011 World Cup was the most significant mover in the ICC's official One Day International batting rankings released today. With exactly 500 runs under his belt in the tournament the 34 year all dynamic rounder jumped into a career high third spot while overcoming his captain Kumar Sangakkara who remains in the fourth position.

Meanwhile Sri Lanka’s mystery spinner Ajantha Mendis was the biggest mover in the bowling rankings with his World Cup form seeing the Sri Lankan spinner jump nine places into eighth spot. In addition fast bowler Lasith Malinga has climbed three places and is now sitting in joint 25th position with South Africa’s Johan Botha while Nuwan Kulasekara has slipped five places and is placed 10the in the rankings.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 runners-up Sri Lanka remain in third place but with an increase in ratings points of two, taking Kumar Sangakkara’s side to 118 points.
