Govt and Opposition MPs laud Lankan cricket team [April 05 2011]

Parliament today extended its congratulation to Sri Lanka cricket Captain Kumar Sangakkara and the team. Both the government and the Opposition lauded the cricketers for having made it the final in the World Cup and requested that their wishes to conveyed to the team.

Chief Government Whip Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said that despite losing the finals, the Sri Lankan team had done their best for the country by performing well. “ Despite the loss, we have to applaud the team members”, he said.

UNP MP Joseph Michael Perera said the team had done their level best to reach the finals. Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody said he would convey the wishes of the Parliament to the team.
