Sri Lanka is to increase the number of flights to Britain in terms of an air services agreement to be signed between the two nations, ivil Aviation Minister Priyankara Jayaratne said.
Accordingly the current frequency of 14 flights per week would be extended up to 21, he said.
The increased number of flights are expected to generate more tourist arrivals to the country as Britain is a major tourism market for Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka has seen an upsurge in tourist arrivals since the end to the armed conflict with the Tamil Tiger rebels in May 2009. Some 650,000 tourists arrived on the island last year, and the figure is expected to increase by another 100,000 this year.
