Free call facility for health workers [April 09 2011]

Sri Lanka Telecom upon a request by Health Minister Maithreepala Sirisena today agreed to make all calls within the health sector free of charge.

According to the Health Ministry spokesman, the agreements in this regard was singed yesterday.

He said in addition to the benefit of free calls the agreement will also allow the institutions and the hospitals under the purview of the ministry to make calls at half rate to outside destinations.

With this initiative the Minister aspires to reduce the staggering Rs.72 million annual telephone bill of the health sector, the spokesperson said. MSF
