Eighteen injured in bus mishap [April 09 2011]

Eighteen passengers suffered minor injuries when a Kataragama bound bus skidded off the road near the Galle Face Hotel roundabout at 7.30 p.m. today.

The City Traffic Police sources said the mishap occurred when the bus was trying to negotiate a curve near the roundabout. The injured passengers were rushed in ambulances to the National Hospital. Nine of the eighteen injured were women, sources said.

The victims were out of danger. They were discharged after being treated for minor injuries. Sources said that a three-wheeler and a motorcycle too collided with the bus. Investigations into the incident are being carried out, police sources said
