Navy recues a Humback Blue Whale [April 16 2011]

Sri lanka Navy had rescued a Humback Blue Whale that had slipped into the shallow inside the Trincomalee harbour on the New Year's eve.

Navy Spokesman Commander Kosala Warnakalasuriya said if the navy had not involved in rescuing the mammal, it would die in the shallow waters of the inner harbour.

The whale, which is one of the endangered species in the world, had rescued in a four-hour rescue mission by the navy and later it was roped and towed released to the deep seas by the navy divers.
