Gold price hits record high [April 20 2011]
Spot gold prices breached $1,500 for the first time and silver hit a 31-year high on Wednesday, supported by a weak dollar and concerns over a sovereign debt crisis in the euro zone.
In trading in Hong Kong, gold hit a record $1,500.70 an ounce.
Silver also touched a 31-year high of $44.34 an ounce, as investors continued to favor gold's less expensive cousin.
