125 bus operators on NTC net [April 24 2011]

The National Transport Commission (NTC) is investigating on 125 buses for charging extra from passengers during the New Year season. Over 100 busses were apprehended after raids carried out by NTC officers and complaints received from the public. According to the NTC Operations Director H.W. Vipulasena complaints received from passengers who accused the bus conductors of charging more than the normal fare and failing to issue tickets and balance. The NTC is optimistic that they would be able to finish the investigations within the next two weeks.
