OPA calls to support the government to defeat groups with vested interested [April 29 2011]

The Organization of Professional Association of Sri Lanka ( OPA) has called the professional community as well as Sri Lankans and all leaders of all political parties to support the government to thwart attempts by the groups with vested interested to destabilize unity and peace among the people.

In a statement issued by the President OPA Uditha H. Palihakkara stated that the conclusions of the Report of the Advisory Panel for the UN Secretary General Ban ki-moon are unsubstantiated, flawned, presumptuous, irrational and prejudiced.

It also stated that the conclusions in the report are an attempt to undermine the humanitarian efforts by the government to bring about reconciliation among communities and to develop the areas that were forcibly occupied by the LTTE.

It further stated that the report has encroached on the sovereignty of Sri Lanka by advocating various Constitutional changes.
