Lanka’s aquatic herpetofauna threatened [April 29 2011]

Sri Lanka's sea snakes, marine turtles, freshwater terrapins and crocodiles, are getting increasingly threatened due to human activities, Sri Lankan Herpetologist Anslem de Silva said.

His recent investigations have shown that approximately 1000 sea snakes, 100 terrapins, 50 marine turtles and about 1 to 2 crocodiles gets killed per month by getting trapped in fishing nets.
