The Fisheries Ministry has decided to convert the existing seven anchorages into modernised marine resource harbours.
In addition 12 landing sites located in the Eastern , Northern and North Western provinces will be developed to anchorages. The existing 13 major fishery harbours will be modernised with ice plants, freezing rooms, fuel storages, increased berthing length and communication facilities
