The Health Ministry, which warns of a possible outbreak of dengue with the prevailing rainy weather, advices the public to clean their environs to destroy mosquito breeding places.
According to the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, over 4,368 cases of dengue have been reported from the beginning of this year upto today and 39 people died of dengue.
Over 1,294 cases of dengue have been reported in April with eight deaths. The Unit said the majority of dengue cases were reported from Colombo (1,440) and an increase of dengue cases have also shown in Gampaha, Kalutara, Puttalam, and Batticaloa districts.
