New UN resident coordinator appointed [May 06 2011]

Bangladeshi national Subinay Nandy has been appointed as United Nations resident coordinator and UNDP resident representative in Sri Lanka.

Subinay Nandy, who is to join his new posts in May this year, recently served as UNDP country director in China.

He also served as UNDP country director in Vietnam from 2004 to 2007 and earlier worked in different capacities in the UNDP Regional Bureau for Asia and the Pacific in New York.

He was deputy resident representative in Turkmenistan and assistant resident representative in Bangladesh where his UNDP career had commenced as national programme officer.

Before joining the UNDP, Subinay Nandy had worked as socio-economic adviser in the coastal area development initiatives in Bangladesh and other countries.
