President ready to talk to University lecturers [May 10 2011]

President Mahinda Rajapaksa said the doors are open for the university lecturers to discuss their salary issue. Speaking the media heads at a meeting at Temple Trees today, the President said the University lecturers, who have resorted to trade union action over salary anomalies, should discuss their genuine grievances with the Minister of Higher Education.

“They should first speak to the subject minister and of they fail to come to an agreement there, they could seek a discussion with me. We would talk to them as far as their issues are not politically motivated,” the President said.
