Lankan Army acted in accordance with laws of war - Dr. Kohona [May 14 2011]

The Sri Lankan Security Forces had acted in accordance with the laws of war and maintained it throughout the battle against the LTTE in 2009 and the government have extensive testimony that the security forces acted in extremely trying circumstances, including the constant threat of suicide attacks, Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the UN Dr. Palitha Kohona said.

He said the ICRC  has described our security forces as well trained and disciplined. " TV footage on AlJazeera even showed soldiers dropping their guns to help civilians fleeing from the LTTE and others sharing their rations with IDPs", he said.
