Zoo to facilitate differently abled visitors [May 14 2011]

The National Zoological Garden in Dehiwala is improving four tracks within its premises specifically to suit differently abled persons. According to zoo officials, there are certain specifications, such as the slope of the road, to follow when constructing these tracks.

The officials focus on to create a more visitor friendly environment in the zoo in their on going infrastructure development activities since it is a place for education and entertainment for all the people irrespective of their abilities and disabilities. As a part of the infrastructure developments taking place in the zoo, an underground water tank with a capacity of 30,000 gallons is constructed to store clean drinking water.
