Sri Lanka edge out England Lions by 38 runs [May 23 2011]

Sri Lanka registered an exciting 38-run win over England Lions in their four-day tour match concluded in Derby a short-while ago. It was a creditable win by the Lankan team after the visitors were forced to follow on – trailing by 266 runs.

But centuries by skipper Tillakaratne Dilshan and his fellow opener Tharanga Paranavithana enabled Sri Lanka to bounce back when following on as the visitors made a creditable 448 all it in their second innings.

In return, England Lions were bowled out for 183 runs in the second innings with Dilhara Fernando and Nuwan Pradeep sharing seven wickets between then. New boy Pradeep, a 24-year-old medium paceman from Negombo, bagged four wickets in his dream spell.
